Unknown Mortal Orchestra offered up their energetic take on “Shakedown Street” last night on Conan, as the group stopped by to make an appearance in support of the Day of the Dead compilation. 

For those familiar with UMO’s music, this reading of “Shakedown” is certainly a new look for them, trading a more brooding sound for a funk-based groove on the classic Dead track. Speaking to Relix, Aaron Dessner said of the track, “It’s kind of like Prince structured through the Grateful Dead or something, direct guitars and that wily playing that really captures them and what they do well, it’s justice to the song.”
