Watch: Ryan Adams Covers Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ‘69”

In October of 2014, Ryan Adams broke the internet when he covered doppelgänger in name Bryan Adams’ “Run to You.” Well, last night upped the ante when he delivered the definitive BA song at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville as the singer-songwriter completed two of his finest shows in recent memory.

Late in the set, after Jason Isbell and Natalie Prass both came out on various tunes such as “Oh My Sweet Carolina” and Whiskeytown’s “16 Days,” Adams took to the mic solo for an intimate, acoustic rendition of “Summer of ’69.” The crowd, struggling to contain its laughter and excitement in a very quiet moment (as you’ll see in the vide), certainly appreciated the out-of-left-field cover.

The performance is a bit of an exorcism in a way for Adams, who infamously threw someone out of his 2002 Ryman show for requesting the famous tune after handing the disruptive concert go-er $30. Adams would later refute that he ever kicked the person out. Replay the performance below.
