Watch Pro-Shot Footage of Phish’s Extravagant “Petrichor” on New Year’s Eve

January 2, 2017

There are few things Phish hasn’t done inside the confines of Madison Square Garden, they’ve flown in a hot dog (hell, they’ve even flown in the air themselves), thrown a winter wonderland party and even played golf, but this New Year’s Eve they quite literally made it rain cats and dogs as the Big Boat track “Petrichor” came to life in the form of a musical production.

Now available to watch in all of it’s pro-shot glory, you can watch the somber build of “Petrichor” as performers lined the stage with umbrellas as rain fell from the ceiling of The Garden. As midnight approaches, Trey Anastasio makes the very astute observation that “it’s never too early to get out of 2016” before a hearty “fuck it” as the countdown hit 4..3..2 and finally 1.

Buried in cat and dog balloons, Phish somehow willed themselves through a flat out joyous “Suzy Greenberg” to start off the new year. Watch below.
