Watch: Moon Taxi Take On Jack White, Taylor Swift, Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Azalea and More in New Year’s Medley

Rob Slater on January 23, 2015

A New Year’s tradition of sorts for Moon Taxi is paying homage to the pop hits of that particular year with a medley during their New Year’s eve show shortly before midnight. Past versions have included short clips of viral tunes like “Gangnam Style” (remember that one) as well as cuts from the likes of Mumford & Sons, Gotye, Gary Clark Jr., Alabama Shakes and many more. This year, during their show at Nashville’s War Memorial Auditorium, they did it again with fantastic results. And now, video of the performance has surfaced.

This time the group mashed up such pop hits like Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” Meghan Trainor’s “All About that Bass,” Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” and of course “Turn Down For What” with current rock staples like Jack White’s “Lazaretto,” Arctic Monkeys’ “Do I Wanna Know,” Alt-J’s “Left Hand Free” and more. The result is a fascinating, demanding nine-minute jam that interjects snippets of some of the best (read: most popular) 2014 had to offer. Replay the performance below.
