Watch: John Fogerty Offers Up ‘Letterman’ Finale Medley

Rob Slater on April 30, 2015

John Fogerty visited David Letterman for the final time as the host nears retirement. Over the last few weeks, several artists have been visiting Late Show at the request of the host, with recent performances including John Mayer, Future Islands, Elvis Costello and others. Last night, it was Fogerty who hit the stage for a medley of Credence Clearwater Revival tunes including “Travelin’ Band,” “Proud Mary” and “Fortunate Son.”

“We have had such tremendous music and no greater than tonight,” Letterman said as he introduced “the original rock and roll rebel” as well as Paul Shaffer, the house band and John Popper, who was also on the show. Fogerty also altered the lyrics to “Proud Mary” to “workin’ for the man every night and Dave,” offering up a wink to the host.
