Watch: Here’s What Happens When Four Old People Go to Bonnaroo

Rob Slater on June 22, 2015

They say that magic happens on The Farm during Bonnaroo weekend, and this is one of those magical moments as Funny or Die followed around four elderly folks experiencing their very first music festival. As you’d expect, it’s five minutes of simply wonderful, positivity-radiating video.

Let’s meet the players: First you have Denny from Tennessee. Denny is a Volunteers fan and might be the one who did Bonnaroo the hardest. He loved Dawes (“I don’t know who they was but they blowed my mind”) but couldn’t eat his ice cream cone on account of his diabetes. That didn’t stop Denny, though, as he raged the Silent Disco til the wee hours of the morning, rendering him absent at the gang’s Waffle House stop the following morning. This makes Denny a certified badass even if he refused to get on the ferris wheel with Dawes. You keep on doing you, Denny.

Then there’s sweet Isolde from Germany. She even gets to speak some German with Jack Antonoff in the video. Isolde certainly seemed to enjoy herself at Kendrick Lamar (her face during the Compton MC’s set is priceless), so much so that she thinks she needs a hearing aid. Isolde also smelled “mary jane” at Bonnaroo too, saying, “I bet I’m high as a kite when I walk home tonight.” Isolde is the best.

Finally, Anne and Neil are a lovely couple enjoying their first Bonnaroo together, and, like any good grandparent would, took some time to connect Mumford & Sons with their grandchildren (Yes, they got to hang with Mumford & Sons at their very first music festival). Anne and Neil really loved Kendrick Lamar (Anne is also a Kenny G fan) and Neil even caught a quick nap backstage while talking to Ben Folds. All four of our favorite festival-goers also joined Guster on stage during their set.

You really have to experience this for yourself. If you think you’ve done a music festival right–you’re wrong. This is doing a music festival right.
