Video: Tony Reali Joins Umphrey’s McGee in Maryland

During the first set finale of last night’s Umphrey’s McGee show at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD, Around the Horn‘s Tony Reali, also affectionately known to Pardon the Interruption viewers as Stat Boy, jumped on stage to sit in on the band’s cover of “Layla.” Reali joined Andy Farag on percussion for the song portion, and then hopped on the keys for the iconic outro section.

The Umphrey’s/ATH love affair began in 2011 when Reali mentioned the band at the end of the show, prior to their multi-night stand at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club. Around the Horn tapes in the DC area as part of the sports hour with Pardon the Interruption.

Reali and panelist Tim Cowlishaw, who also writes for the Dallas Morning News, discussed the Umphrey’s show on April 20 of 2013, which Cowlishaw attended. The band invited Tim backstage and even included his signature on the signed setlist given to a select fan before the show. Umphrey’s debuted a cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” that night in Austin, TX.
