Video Recap: Firefly Music Festival Boasts Foo Fighters, OutKast, Jack Johnson and More

Rob Slater on June 23, 2014

Firefly Music Festival had one of its most successful weekends in the young history of the Dover, DE event as the likes of Foo Fighters, OutKast, Beck, Jack Johnson, Arctic Monkeys and more descended on the race track-turned-festival grounds for three days of fun. Below, feel free to dig into a variety of video selections from each day including Pretty Lights and Big Gigantic collaborating as well as The Lumineers and Jack doing a little “I Shall Be Released.” You will also find hits from OutKast, Arctic Monkeys, Beck and many more. Enjoy.

Friday

Arctic Monkeys “R U Mine?”

Budding rockstars Arctic Monkeys closed their set on the Firefly Stage with the AM standout “R U Mine?” and Alex Turner won over all the ladies in the audience.

Foo Fighters “Times Like These” > “Rope”

“Hi everybody, my name is Dave. How are you?” Such a Southern gentleman, that Dave Grohl.

Foo Fighters “Miss You,” “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” and “School’s Out”

As Grohl explained, the encore would feature his new band “The Holy Shits” who play classic rock covers. They would bust into Queen’s “Under Pressure” along with Alice Cooper’s “Schools Out,” The Stones’ “Miss You” and Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love.”

Saturday

Beck “Billie Jean”

Beck can do anything. Confirmed.

OutKast “Roses”

OutKast’s anniversary tour continued into Delaware, a place they probably hadn’t played in about a minute or two. As it appears, Big Boi is now joining Andre 3000 with a matching all-black jumpsuit. Some may argue that’s the most cohesion they’ve displayed on their reunion tour thus far.

Pretty Lights w/Dominic Lalli “Finally Moving”

Pretty Lights w/Dominic Lalli “Summer Time Remix”

Pretty Lights closed down the festivities on Saturday and was joined by collaborator and pal Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic, who were playing the late night slot on Sunday night. Lalli would hang around for a couple tunes including “Finally Moving” as well as “Summer Time Remix.”

Sunday

Weezer “Undone (The Sweater Song)”

Because the 1994 version of you can’t not sing along to this one.

Jack Johnson w/The Lumineers “Breakdown”

Jack Johnson w/The Lumineers “I Shall Be Released”

The final headliner of the weekend, Jack Johnson, also got some help from pals and fellow feel-good rockers The Lumineers during his set for his original “Breakdown” as well as a stirring cover of The Band’s “I Shall Be Released.”
