Video Premiere: The Roomsounds “Elm St.”

April 29, 2016

When it was time for The Roomsounds to record their second full-length,  they received an invitation from Rodney Hall, owner of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL. The quartet traveled from their home base in Dallas to Muscle Shoals to work on what would become Elm St., which builds on the sounds of their self-titled debut, which had been hailed as “an unpretentious album of purist rock ‘n’ roll riffs.”

Today we premiere the official video for the title track off the new record. Lead singer Ryan Michael tells Relix, “We knew when we walked into FAME that it had a vibe that we had to capture sonically and aesthetically. We were lucky enough to have one of our best friends Will Von Bolton come with us and document the whole thing. 11 hours in the van from Dallas to Muscle Shoals, meeting studio owners Rodney and Rick Hall, vibing with our engineer John, having Rodney bring us upstairs to Rick Halls office with gold records lining the walls. We spent a lot of down time just digging through storage rooms, looking at old photos, guitars, 2″ tape reels… it was like rock & soul fantasy camp for us.  We kept it simple doing an in-studio performance video but my favorite moments are the behind the scenes parts where you can tell everyone is having a great fuckin’ time.”
