Video Premiere: Marc Broussard “Every Tear”

September 16, 2016

On September 30 Marc Broussard will release S.O.S. 2: Save Our Soul: Soul On a Mission., which presents Broussard’s absorbing interpretations of music originally recorded by such artists as Wilson Pickett, Solomon Burke, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin. Half of the profits from this record will be directed to City of Refuge.

Broussard explains, “City Of Refuge is an Atlanta, GA based organization that does some of the most comprehensive work, dealing with homelessness and poverty, in the country! My first encounter with COR was 2 years ago when I performed for one of their fundraisers in Atlanta. I was able to meet with the folks that work there and the folks that are served by the work that COR does. I was so impressed with what I saw that day that I began to research more about the group and, needless to say, became convinced that I wanted to get involved in any way I could. Through vocational training, youth education, and lifetime job placement assistance, COR is more successful at getting people permanently out of poverty than any other program I’ve ever seen. You can see for yourself the amazing work they’re doing at City of Refuge.”

Today we premiere the official video for “Every Tear,” which reflects Broussard’s soulful reading of the song written by Dave Egan, who passed away earlier this year. Brossard notes, “”I met David Egan when I was 20. He gifted me with ‘French Cafe’, a song so sweet, I’ve never topped it. He also helped me finish some of my own tunes for that record. Truly, what he did shaped my sound and my life in ways that are still driving me Creatively AND Spiritually. He taught me that southern songwriting, while disregarding traditional rules, still had to demonstrate some real serious principles. Authenticity grows from honesty. The soul thrives when it’s righteous. Write what you know, try to keep it pretty simple, and charm the lights out of the building!”

S.O.S. 2: Save Our Soul: Soul On a Mission is now available for pre-order on CD and Vinyl as well as download.
