Video Premiere: Frankie Lee “Buffalo”

June 17, 2016

Frankie Lee‘s forthcoming debut full-length American Dreamer will be released on July 8 by Loose/Thirty Tigers. The record by the Minnesota native already was issued in Europe to much acclaim by the London label Loose (Sturgill Simpson, The Felice Brothers, Hurray For The Riff Raff) with The Guardian describing it as “beautifully burnished Americana…a traditional-sounding debut, but wild and radical at heart, and should take him a long way.” American Dreamer is now available for pre-order with instant downloads of 3 songs including “Buffalo,” the video we present today. Lee tells Relix, “‘Buffalo’ was born in the back of a station wagon on my way through the North Dakota Badlands. I had been driving for 14 hours and needed to close my eyes. When I opened them again, the sky was on fire and the oil fields were pumping blood out of the earth and this song was in my head.”
