The newest project from James Casey (Trey Anastasio, Soulive, Lettuce) is called Animus Rexx. As he tells Relix, “A little over a year ago I decided to start a band with some of my friends from college. At the time I was playing with Trey, Lettuce and Soulive and I wanted a slightly different outlet for my own personal musical undertakings. I also wanted the larger community of music lovers, that I am blessed to interact with regularly, to be introduced to a few of my amazing friends. The idea behind Animus Rexx was to combine two things I really love (live instruments and electronic music) into a cohesive musical experience that takes some of the best parts of both. At our shows, I sing and play saxophone as well as trigger all the samples.” Today we premiere the video for “Terminal,” drawn from a performance at Rockwood Music Hall on 4/23/14. Animus Rexx will next perform at Rockwood Music Hall’s Stage Two on November 17.
