Video: Julian Casablancas & The Voidz Make SXSW Debut With New Material

Earlier this month, The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas released this teaser video for a new album with his new band The Voidz. Now, some of those songs have surfaced thanks to a show at the Chevrolet Courtyard at SXSW last night. Casablancas took the stage and performed five brand new songs from his forthcoming project as well as one Strokes tune (“Ize of the World”) and two songs from his solo effort Phrazes for the Young.

Thankfully, someone was on hand to record the performance, or at least most of it. Check out a replay of “Ego,” “2231,” “Biz Dog,” Dr Acula” and “The Phantom of Liberty (Arabic Jam).” Casablancas will appear at several festivals this year, culminating in one of The Strokes’ few 2014 shows at Governor’s Ball in New York.

We can only hope “Dr Acula” is an ode to Scrubs.
