Last night on AXS TV, Dan Rather visited Jack White’s Third Man Records studio to talk to the guitarist about a variety of topics. One such topic that was edited out of the interview was White’s history with drug use. As it turns out, such a history doesn’t exist. “I’ve never even smoked marijuana,” White says when Rather mentions that he has never had problems drinking or abusing drugs.

“You’re kidding me,” Rather quips, drawing a laugh. White then goes on to explain the thought process behind such a decision as well as a conversation he had with a musician who claimed that some of The Beatles’ records don’t count because “that wasn’t really them.” That’s certainly one way of looking at it.
