Video: Chris Christie Argues with Constituent Over Relationship with Bruce Springsteen

Rob Slater on August 20, 2014

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is a bigger Bruce Springsteen fan than you. As of 2012, he had seen The Boss 130 times and is not shy about his fandom. Hell, he even went on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and sang “Thunder Road” with the host.

From Bruce’s standpoint, they haven’t always been on the same page, however. While Springsteen was complimentary of Christie’s handling of Hurricane Sandy, The Boss went on the same popular late night show and ripped the Governor with a parody song entitled “New Jersey Traffic Jam” after the “Bridgegate” scandal.

Regardless, at a rally yesterday an audience member challenged the Governor on his Springsteen fandom, saying that she thought she heard Springsteen requested his music not be played at Christie’s events (there were “like five” Bruce tunes played prior to the rally). His response was swift and quite frankly, hilarious.
