Sturgill Simpson Makes Nirvana’s “In Bloom” an Entirely New Song with Stunning Reimagining

March 24, 2016

Well, Nirvana has officially gone country. Strugill Simpson burst onto the scene last year and will return once again with his new album A Sailor’s Guide to Earth on April 15. Included in that tracklisting is a cover of Cobain, Grohl and Novoselic’s Nevermind track “In Bloom.” And now, as you will see below, Simpson has introduced us to an entirely new side of the Seattle rock icons.

“For me, that song has always summed up what it means to be a teenager, and I think it tells a young boy that he can be sensitive and compassionate,” Simpson said of “In Bloom.” “I wanted to make a very beautiful and pure homage to Kurt.”
