Song Premiere: Wartime Blues “Fredericksburg”

April 29, 2015

Wartime Blues is an experimental Americana collective based in Missoula, Montana. After a three year hiatus the group recovened to record their third album, April, Texas, which is set for release on May 16. April, Texas is a song cycle set in small towns across the southern Great Plains. Today we premiere “Fredericksburg” from the record. Bandleader Nate Vernon explains, “Fredericksburg was built for long drives in empty country. We wanted it to breathe, and float, and kind of just sink into your ear drums. Lyrically, the song covers the back end of a bad relationship, and how those painful little memories — like reading together after an afternoon nap, or pulling into a motel parking lot when the rain becomes too torrential to drive — can sting you months after a breakup.” April, Texas is now available for pre-order.
