Bees and Seas: The Best Of Slobberbone
, spans the career of the Texas-based alt-country/rock act that came together in 1992. The late Jim Dickinson appeared on a few songs on the group’s third album, 2000’s Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today and to mark the release of Bees and Seas, Luther Dickinson has recorded a cover of Slobberbone’s “Trust Jesus.” Dickinson tells Relix, “My father Jim, played piano on the original recoding of “Trust Jesus” but the song’s lyrics make me think of my grandfather who was a traveling salesman for Diamond Match. The lyrical concept is fascinating as is imagining the idea of the song being born, miles of road racing below and peripheral graffiti wisdom igniting an idea.”

Bees and Seas: The Best Of Slobberbone is available via iTunes and Amazon. Luther Dickinson’s latest album is Blues & Ballads (A Folksingers Songbook) Volumes I & II.
