Sweet Creep the latest album from Jonny Fritz will be released on October 14 via ATO. My Morning Jacket’s Jim James produced the record in the Montecito Heights section of Los Angeles where Fritz performed alongside Joshua Hedley and Dawes’ Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith. Sweet Creep is the follow-up to 2013’s Dad Country, and in our review of that album we praised Jonny Fritz’s songwriting, noting that “a piquantly absurd degree of detail that makes his songs feel more believable than mainstream country’s backwoods boilerplate.”

Today we premiere Sweet Creep’s “Stadium Inn.” Fritz explains,The Stadium Inn is a dark little hotel, nestled right between Interstate 24 and Downtown Nashville; or in other words, in God’s blindspot. Some time in the ‘60s it was Roger Miller’s King of The Road but today it’s mostly inhabited by weekly tenants that slither in and out of sanity and of paying their rent. It’ll be torn down within a year, I guarantee it. Before they tear it down, drive by it on the freeway during rush hour. Most likely traffic will slow down enough that you can get a glimpse into the dark, dark world behind the windows of the Stadium Inn.”

Fritz will support the record on a fall tour with Jamestown Revival with the full dates listed below the stream. Sweet Creep is now available for pre-order (with the track available as instant download starting tomorrow for folks who purchase the album).
