The Grateful Dead’s self-titled debut album was issued in March 1967. To commemorate the 50 year anniversary of that release the band will kick off a special album reissue series in January, which will feature two-disc deluxe editions and limited edition vinyl picture disc versions of all the group’s studio and live albums. Each of the two-disc deluxe editions will include the original album with newly remastered sound, plus a bonus disc of unreleased recordings. The same remastered audio will also be available on the 12-inch picture disc which will be limited to 10,000 copies.

The deluxe edition’s version of The Grateful Dead includes performances from the band’s performances at the Vancouver Trips Festival on July 29 and 30, 1966. Today we premiere the version “Cream Puff War,” (a rarity which the group only played in 1966 and 1967),  drawn from July 29.

The complete track listing for the deluxe edition appears below the stream.
