Seattle Restaurant Changes Marquee in Response to Tom Morello’s Tweet
This is the marquee at Seattle’s 5 Point Cafe right now. A little backstory: Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and his group of friends tried to get a table at the popular spot over the weekend, only to be denied by, as Morello claims, the “shittiest doorman in the Northwest.”
Five Point restaurant in Seattle is the WORST. Super rude & anti-worker. Shittiest doorman in the Northwest. Prick. Spread the word.

Strong words, indeed. So strong, in fact, that the restaurant took to their Facebook page to pen a clarification on the story. Owner David Meinert delivered a five-paragraph upper cut to Morello’s claim, saying that it was he who was rude to the staff. Meinert also mentioned that “rock stars don’t get special treatment” and that they “couldn’t give less of a shit.” Those are, as they say, fightin’ words.
Meinert also responded to Morello’s claim that the “evil (egg) empire” restaurant doesn’t follow the #15Now initiative, supporting $15 minimum wage for workers. “I‘m the owner of the 5 Point and have worked to raise the minimum wage in Seattle and support the same nationally, worked to get paid sick days law in Seattle, and am supporting a City sponsored retirement plan for employees of small businesses. I hope you do the same for your employees on the road.” Roasted, Morello.
If it couldn’t get any worse for the former Rage axe-man, the marquee at the 5 Point is now….that.
Either way, Morello seemed to enjoy himself in Seattle prior to the 5 Point incident, as he joined former Audioslave bandmate Chris Cornell for a special set benefitting the aforementioned 15Now initiative. Watch the entire hour-long set below including a cover of U2’s “One,” several Audioslave tunes and a “This Land is Your Land” finale.
