Phil Collins is back in the musical spotlight and he certainly isn’t wasting much time getting started as his latest interview with The Times opens up a fourteen-year old wound thanks to Paul McCartney.

The story goes that Collins approached the famed Beatle with a first edition copy of Hunter Davies’ biography on the band. Collins just wanted an autograph from the Beatles bassist to forever immortalize the copy of the book. “Oh Heather,” McCartney reportedly said to then wife Heather Mills, “our little Phil’s a bit of a Beatles fan.” 

Ouch. Speaking to The Times, Collins says, “I thought, ‘You fuck. You fuck.’ Never forgot it.” 

Needless to say, it doesn’t seem all that likely that McCartney will be checking out one of Collins’ shows in the near future, and vice versa.
