Pearl Jam Share Pro-Shot Video of “Driven to Tears” with Sting at Madison Square Garden

May 6, 2016

Pearl Jam wrote yet another chapter in their storied history with Madison Square Garden after they returned for the first time in six years over the weekend for two shows.

The first night was a ferocious exhibition in the Seattle legends doing exactly what they do best–work every inch of a 20,000 seat arena for three relentless hours. Night two was the victory lap, with the group offering up rare moments like the “Man” trilogy featuring the three-pronged attack of “Leatherman,” “Nothingman” and “Better Man.” Rick Nielsen and Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick even joined in for “Surrender.” They’d also play the appropriate selection “Garden” for just the second time this tour as well as rarer tunes like “Leash,” “All Or None” and “Breath.”

The highlight came in the second encore when the group launched into the first cover of The Police’s “Driven to Tears” since 2009. After Eddie Vedder sang the first verse, a familiar face found his way on stage. It was in fact Sting, who joined the band for the remainder of the song before leaving just as quickly as he entered.

Watch pro-shot footage of that performance below.
