One Year Ago Today, Phish Took Us to the Movies

August 22, 2016

Not much else needs to be written about Phish’s “Drive In” set at Magnaball, as it’s all been said somewhere down the line. Quite simply, one of the greatest achievements in the band’s history. A 50-minute cinematic adventure that will stand the test of time.

Magnaball may register as Phish’s most successful festival of the modern era, and the Drive In set is its crown jewel, a towering musical accomplishment for the Vermont quartet with a lengthy list of accomplishments over the years. On a work day that began in the early afternoon, with a day set followed by an expansive pair of night sets that featured the now-iconic “Tweezer” > “Prince Caspian” segment, it’s amazing that Phish was able to muster the endurance and focus to perfectly execute the task at hand. But alas, that is Phish.

As we mark the one year anniversary of Magnaball, watch the “Drive-In” set in all its glory below.
