Nick Saban Loves the Eagles, Harbaugh Jams to Marley and More on College Football Coach’s Musical Tastes

November 22, 2016

A new piece from ESPN surveyed the favorite musical act from each college football coach in the country to…..surprising results.

The leading vote-getters included Kenny Chesney and George Strait as well as the Eagles, whose fans include Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Other choices, by ranking in the current College Football Playoff standings, include Sister Hazel (Urban Meyer), a surprising vote of Bob Marley for Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and a regionally-accepted vote for Garth Brooks from Clemson’s Dabo Swinney. Surely, “Friends in Low Places” gets sung nightly at bars in Tiger Town.

Choices ranged from Prince (OSU’s Mike Gundy, WVU’s Dana Holgersen and Kent State’s Paul Haynes) to Daft Punk (Oregon’s Mark Helfrich) as well as Stevie Nicks (Louisville’s Bobby Petrino), Talking Heads (Wake Forest’s Dave Clawson), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Maryland’s D.J. Durkin) and Trombone Shorty (UT-San Antonio’s Frank Wilson). There certainly wasn’t a consensus with other top vote-getters including AC/DC, Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, Led Zeppelin, Springsteen and Toby Keith.

Interestingly enough, the Beatles did not receive a single vote.
