Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready manned the DJ helm for a special interview with Jack White set to air Wednesday at 6 and 9 PM ET on Pearl Jam Radio (channel 22). In a preview offered up on SiriusXM.com, White discusses a variety of topics including writing with his various projects as well as how the hell he finds time to balance out all of the aspects of his life. White and McCready also touch on sexism in the music industry (White toured with an all-female and all-male band on his Blunderbuss tour).

A couple of interesting clips of note below, the first of which finds White talking about the differences between working with The Dead Weather and the Raconteurs, calling both bands (including The White Stripes) “happy accidents.” White also goes on to explain how he approaches creating music with each project. “I basically treat my music like it’s cover songs. I pretend I’m covering someone else’s music, in terms of producing my own music.”

Another clip below is possibly the most revealing of the bunch as White talks about the myth of having fun on stage. “I just don’t ever feel that onstage,” he says. “It feels almost like a sin to be having fun doing it.”

White also wasn’t’ shy about his views on sexism in the music industry, citing the “novelty” factor that comes with a female playing an instrument and how he seeks to reverse that notion.
