Listen: The Roots Premiere “When the People Cheer”

Back in February, we got word of a potential new album from The Roots from Black Thought. With their nightly stint as house band on The Tonight Show along with the thousands of other projects the band are involved with, it seemed farfetched. However, yesterday the group dropped their first single, “When the People Cheer,” something that will surprise fans who first gained exposure to the legendary Philadelphia crew as Jimmy Fallon’s sidekicks.
The album, And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, will hit stores May 13 via Def Jam Records. Listen to “When the People Cheer” below.
