John Mayer Trio is back, which means the guitarist for which the band bears its name is putting aside the pop hits and digging into his true blues roots. Mayer, Pino Palladino, Steve Jordan and many special guests are in the studio recording…..something, but no one is really sure what yet. Now, we at least have some audio evidence that work is getting done, as Mayer returned to his SoundCloud account to post a “rough cut” of a song entitled “Little Sur.” The track, which also features Chick Corea, is said to have been recorded at New York’s Electric Lady Studios on February 22.
