Let’s Revisit the Last Time Bob Weir and Dave Matthews Shared the Stage (Hint: Trey Was Also There)

Dave Matthews Band’s tour has been relatively empty when it comes to collaborations, but in the last week the band has ramped it up in that department with sit-ins from Robert Randolph and now Bob Weir last night in Berkeley, CA. Weir joined in on Daniel Lanois’ tune “The Maker.”

Weir has never played with Dave Matthews Band until last night but has shared the stage with the frontman before. In 2006, Dave and Friends (remember them?) headlined a Caribbean Getaway cruise in February of that year and welcomed a host of special guests to join them, Weir included. While the destination event was largely hampered by bad weather and poor planning, the collaboration did mark the second time Weir shared the stage with Matthews to go along with Tim Reynolds (Weir showed up at a Dave & Tim show in 1999 for “All Along the Watchtower”) and his future Fare Thee Well bandmate Trey Anastasio.

The overall memories of Dave and Friends may be bleak, but this is certainly one of the highlights as Weir joined the fold for “Iko Iko” during a late night set on the boat. Watch below.
