Joel Cummins and Tom Morello Were in the House for Jake Arrieta’s No-Hitter
For Chicago Cubs fans, baseball glory comes so rarely. This year, however, the Cubs sit at 74-55 with a real shot to not just make the playoffs, but make some noise late into the fall as well. Last night, they took yet another positive step with a 2-0 win in Los Angeles agains the Dodgers. Not only did they win, but Jake Arrieta threw the 14th no-hitter in Cubs history, and the first since Carlos Zambrano blanked the Astros in 2008.
If you have ever been in the stadium to witness a no-hitter or perfect game live, you know it is quite an experience. It’s unexpected and ranks as one of the most incredible feats in all of sports. In the crowd at Dodger Stadium last night were a pair of musicians with Chicago roots–notably Umphrey’s McGee’s Joel Cummins and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. The two documented their experience (and even got to share a quick hello after the game) via Twitter and Instagram. Take a look below.

I’m still in complete disbelief that I just witnessed a no hitter in person.
