Here Are Most of My Morning Jacket’s Covers From Their Strong Red Rocks Run

My Morning Jacket’s Memorial Day Weekend run at Red Rocks was simply stacked, with two nights of variety both in their own repertoire as well their cover selection, which has always been a bit of a sore spot for the group over the years. But on this weekend, MMJ celebrated Memorial Day with covers of Bob Dylan, Prince, The Eagles and The Commodores over their two nights at Red Rocks.

Who knows what exactly got into the group, but they peppered their sets with takes on Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” Prince’s “Take Me With You” and “Purple Rain,” Eagles’ “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Easy” by The Commodores, among others.  Some of which featured founding guitarist Johnny Quaid, who joined the group at various points during both shows. Quaid founded the band with cousin Jim James in 1998 before departing in 2004.

Watch a selection of covers from the band’s run over the weekend below.
