Happy Birthday Carlos Santana: Watch Phil Lesh Collaboration at Lockn’ 2015

Rob Slater on July 20, 2016

Today Carlos Santana will celebrate 69 years of life and a musical career that has included extensive solo work, his classic Santana band, as well as collaborations with the likes of the Grateful Dead, Herbie Hancock, Lauryn Hill and countless others.

In 2015, Santana reunited with his old friend Phil Lesh at Lockn’ Festival to play in one of the bassist’s sets at the Virginia festival. Along with Warren Haynes, Rob Barraco, Barry Sless and John Molo, the ensemble rolled through cuts like “Not Fade Away” (jammed out of Billy and the Kids’ set that concluded with the same tune), “Hard to Handle,” “Fire on the Mountain,” “All Along the Watchtower” and others.

In honor of Santana’s birthday, relive that set below.
