Glen Hansard Covers Bruce Springsteen’s “Drive All Night”

Glen Hansard’s new EP Drive All Night (November 25) features three original Hansard tunes, but the centerpiece of the album comes in the form of Bruce Springsteen’s cut from The River, “Drive All Night.” Featuring Hansard along with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Joe Henry and Jake Clemons (nephew of late E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons), the nearly nine-minute track mirrors the Springsteen original as well as adding Hansard’s own spin.

Hansard’s history with Springsteen dates back to 2008 when Hansard’s “Falling Slowly” won Best Original Song at the Oscars. “I remember sitting next to Bruce Springsteen, and he put things in perspective for me so, so well,” Hansard told Rolling Stone last year. “He said, ‘When you have success, you need to mark it, even if it’s opening a beer or a bottle of champagne or going to dinner with your family or taking a holiday. If you don’t mark your success, then the day your ship comes in might just be another day at the office.’ And I remember thinking, ‘Jesus, that’s so true!'”
