The Umphrey’s McGee podcast series continued with episode 155 as Brendan Bayliss sat down to talk about the band’s forthcoming record, Similar Skin, due out June 10 via Nothing Too Fancy Records. The guitarist and frontman spoke on all things Similar Skin including the origins of “Hourglass” as well as his struggle to add a new verse to “No Diablo” despite having played the tune live for about a year.

Additional highlights include Bayliss breaking down one of the best tunes on the album–the title track–tracing it all the way back to its various origins (“Similar Skin” was born through four different improvisational pieces). He also touches on another new one, “Educated Guess,” saying that while he thinks it “kicks ass,” it will be a difficult song to play initially. Also be on the lookout for a wonderful use of “laborious” as well as a Caddyshack reference.
