Stanley Jordan and Umphrey’s McGee are no strangers to one another, with Jordan joining UM on numerous occasions including New Year’s Eve, sUMmer school, moe.down and several Midwest shows. This time, however, it was Umphrey’s turn to open the show for Mr. Jordan.

Chicago’s Cubby Bear played host to the event as The Stanley Jordan Band would be preceded by UM’s own Brendan Bayliss playing a solo acoustic set to begin the evening. Bayliss moved through several covers, solo material as well as UM originals before handing the stage over to Stanley Jordan. The night wouldn’t be quite complete without a collaboration, which came as Bayliss joined The Stanley Jordan Band (featuring UM drummer Kris Myers) for a version of the UM staple “Hajimemashite.” Take a look at Bayliss performing the rare acoustic number “You and You Alone” and then joining SJB for “Hajimemashite.”
