Album of the Year Nominee Sturgill Simpson’s Twitter Account is Perfect in Every Way

December 6, 2016

This year’s Album of the Year category at the Grammys is predictable through the first four, then absolutely hysterical at its conclusion.

Of course you have Adele, who returned with 25. Beyonce can never be left off any list, for fear of another Kanye West breakdown, so she’s in with Lemonade. Bieber and Drake round out the top-4 with their moody, watered-down pop that touched the hearts of 13-year old kids everywhere. And then there’s Sturgill.

Simpson’s A Sailor’s Guide to Earth very well may be the best album released this year. He won’t win the Grammy, but if you know anything about Sturgill, you know the list of things he gives a shit about could never possibly include winning a Grammy. He does, however, have aspirations of his own. “In ten years I’ll be the biggest country star on the planet,” Simpson told the Nashville Scene. “I guaran-fucking-tee it.” Having your name etched next to Beyonce, Adele, Bieber and Drake is certainly fast-tracking that. A win would be something else. See: Fire, Arcade.

We’re not really here for all of that though. We’re here to admire Sturgill’s impeccable Twitter account which is simply a parade of sold out shows. I imagine Sturgill sipping a nice glass of whiskey, admiring his finest Merle Haggard memorabilia on his wall, giving the finger to Music Row and pressing “Tweet.” In the words of Jason Isbell, get ’em, Sturgill.
