I live in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. A fairly small town, but it has its attractions. The music scene is very minimal here as for big artists. Bob Dylan came in September and that's about it. But then again out east does have its minor bands, great ones on the rise. Some include Jimmy Swift Band, Grand Theft Bus, Ted Neeley Beard, Heimlich, Hot Toddy, Subliminal, Losing Youth. Just to name a few. These bands play in small clubs and venues and have they're fan base. They tour accross Canada quite a bit and are awesome. Jimmy Swift is well knows for jamming and they really are awesome. I guess what Im trying to say is that it would be nice to see Relix mention Canada's jam scene in an issue. Even mention any festivals going on. I never see anything mentioned about us and we have some really awesome musicians. Look who came from us. Neil Young, Alanis Morrisette, Tragically Hip...awesome bands. Anyways just thought I might throw that at you, just to see if you'll take it into consideration. Thanx for a great magazine, its hard to find any magazine worth reading these days. Ill see you at Bonnaroo! ~Peace, love, music~

Dear Relix, I know Relix and JamBands.com have a very special relationship, and I also know that JamBands.com uses the name of a great band "Townhall" quite often in their 250 Band votes. I also know that Relix teamed up with Townhall in May 2002 to do a show in Philly. Now what I want to know is... when am I going to see a full feature on Townhall IN Relix magazine? Townhall is one of the most amazing bands that I have had to privilage to see play live. They tour non-stop and they are amazing musicians. It's about time someone gave them a little hand in their climb for the top. Please put in an article on Townhall in an upcoming issue. The band has earned it.

Northeast Music Scene 05/14/03 Print E-mail

I was reading through past letters to the editor, and I came across one requesting more coverage of new northeast bands. I second this--as somebody completely obsessed with music, I find my local scene (new jersey) a tad depressing. I have, however, stumbled upon an incredible band from Philly that I feel deserve some props. I've been looking for a band to restore my faith in the northeast music scene, and Revisor has done this a thousand times over. I've gone to their shows a few times and every time I'm amazed. I also got a chance to finally meet some members of the band, all of whom are really nice guys. Their website is www.revisormusic.com, and there are reviews of one of their cd's written on jambase.com and phreshwater.com. I hope you get a chance to check them out because, whether you mention them in Relix or not, their music is definitely worth knowing. Thanks a lot.
