Just saw Vince W. in the Turning Point in Piermont, NY (great little place) with backing band Gent Treadly (they are great in their own right), where they did some Dead, covers, & VW Missing Man Formation Songs. Although the turnout was poor, the vibe was unbelievable and the room rocked with Jerry's spirit. For whatever reason, VW is the only actual GD member who doesen't participate in the various post JG Dead iterations. Considering the reconciliations that have taken place in the Dead scene, this is a shame. Nontheless, his talent speaks for itself and Relix should keep its eye on his doings.
Another Bay area band to checkout is Legion of Mary. They originally Included Jerry Garcia in his pre-JGB days and are now fronted by Martin Fierro (Zero, etc.). We saw them in the Sweetwater a few years ago. Are they still playing?
Finally check out the Towne Crier in Pawling, NY, they have presented many great performers in the past including Jorma, New Riders, Commander Cody and Bela Fleck. |

I recently bought the "Kings of Leon: debut at my local record store, it rocks. All 15 min. of it impressed me and I am looking forward to their major lable release! Holly Roller Novacaine is a great album and everyone should own it. Their like a mix between Bela Fleck and Moe. Good luck to them!
