Relix favorites Bela Fleck & the Flecktones jam out live in Argentina on November 6th. The band has plenty to be merry about this year: their renditions of holiday staples "Silent Night" and "Sleigh Ride" are featured on their latest record, "Jingle All The Way," which has garnered two Grammy nominations this year: Best Pop Instrumental Album and Best Country Instrumental Performance, the latter category of which they've already won previously.

Tori Amos Sings "Thank You" Print E-mail

In the spirit of tomorrow's day of thanks, watch a fresh-faced Tori Amos pay homage to Zeppelin's hypnotically heart-rendering hit, "Thank You," clipped from the recently released 2008 DVD of her early performance years: Live at Montreux 1991 & 1992. Few artists could cover a Zeppelin classic and actually do it justice, but Amos, as with any song she has ever covered, surrenders to her trusted piano while coloring the tune with her own brand of emotionally-driven vocal flair (and some lyrical alteration) and makes it completely her own.

This early Fall 2008 performance of "Dancing Choose" from TV On The Radio's latest, Dear Science, is proof that the experimental band's trademark ability to infuse the most eclectic gathering of sounds (hip-hop, alt-jazz and wartime poetry to name a few) into new and original works of music in the studio is thankfully maintained on stage. Though different from the studio recording, listening to this track live is still a refreshing experience. Read the full review of TVOTR's latest album, featured in our brand new issue.

In the most recent of several benefits played for President-elect Barack Obama, Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt and Pat Sansone of Wilco play Madison, Wisconsin on November 1st in another effort to get out the vote. Apropos to the occasion, the inspirational lyrics of their song “What Light” suggest the benefits of sticking by your beliefs. Closing lyrics “There’s a light (white light) / Inside of you,” are perhaps indicative of how the band, and millions of other Americans felt about their Democratic candidate on November 4th. A preview of what's to come? It's possible: As Wilco is a longstanding Obama supporter and Obama is a self-proclaimed Wilco fan, it is likely the Chicago band will play at one of the inauguration parties this January.
