Here’s the premiere of a track from the forthcoming English Beat box set, The Complete Beat. The 5-CD will be released on July 10th via Shout! Factory.
The group’s Dave Wakeling has this to say about the song: “Written about a night at Barbarella’s nightclub in Birmingham, where a lot of our punk heroes played. The club closed at 2:20am, with the DJ scratching the record off the deck, all lights went on bright, and the dream of talking to that girl across the dance floor was suddenly shattered… You’d left it too late!!! She was too nice to talk to! Ha Ha Ha!”
