Song Premiere: Nahko and Medicine for the People “Love Letters To God”

May 16, 2016

Nahko and Medicine for the People’s new album, HOKA, is set for release on June 10. This is the group’s third full-length and the band’s namesake explains, “Hoka is a Lakota word, an indigenous tribe from the Great Plains, it is a call to action. It’s what Crazy Horse would say when he went into battle, ‘Hoka, hey!’ My call is to put action to the words that I speak and the lyrics I sing. Not just to talk, but to do. This is the soundtrack of the movement for a better planet. I want to challenge myself and others to make a change.”

Today we premiere “Love Letters To God” from the forthcoming record (which is currently available for pre-order at nahko.com). Nahko tells Relix, “In a time where guns, politics, and wealth divide and separate us from nature and each other, this poem to Creator asks the question: are you listening to our prayers? Because it’s crazy down here…”
