Because I usually spin entire albums, my playlist consists of my favorite current albums to spin—DJ LOGIC

djlogiczenoflogic04_175px.jpg1. The Roots, Game Theory: One of the hottest acts around, constantly bringin’ it and keepin’ their organic groove alive.

2. J. Dilla, The Shining: Amazing producer, love the abstract feel of this record, great beats.

3. The Benevento/Russo Duo, Play Pause Stop: Wonderful to see how far these two have come, great energy and unique vibe coupled with their originality and the power of their sound is what turns me on to their gig.

4. Dirty Dozen Brass Band, What’s Going On: Love the soulful nature and the orchestration of this record.

5. Re-Bop, The Savoy Remixes: Tasty cuts of jazz greats re-mixed by the best hip-hop producers, including yours truly.

6. Mulatu Astatke, Ethiopiques Volume 4: An Ethiopian legend who changed the shape of world music today. This is one of the sexiest compilations out there.

7. Gnarls Barkley, St. Elsewhere: I can’t get enough of this album. It takes me back to the late ‘60s—the old skool vibe coupled with the funk is what I dig from this hip-hop cat.

8. Lee “Scratch” Perry, Panic in Babylon: The father of reggae makes me smile, this record isn’t out yet but it comes courtesy of my friends at Narnack Records. Keep your eye on this fat joint.

9. India Arie, Testimony: Volume 1 Love and Relationships: Neo-soul delivered in a way that makes you feel like your getting homespun wisdom from the heart.

10. Yusef Lateef, Beautiful Flowers: Legendary philosopher in the international music scene, one of the great living masters and innovators in the African-American tradition of autophysiopsychic music (that which comes from one’s spiritual, physical and emotional self). Inspiring.

11. Candido and Graciela, Inolvidable: Love this Cuban fusion from these Havana-born Latin Legends—these are two of the survivors of the Cubop movement and I would love to collaborate with them some day.

12. DJ Spooky, In Fine Style: My Downtown brotha bringin it no other way but in dynamic style.

13. Christian McBride, Live at Tonic: This is my man, lots of praise and love for Christian—I have nothin’ but praise for his vision.

14. Jurassic 5, Feedback: Smoove, downtempo vibe that gets the crowds shakin’.

15. Nelly Furtado, Loose: Totally a guilty pleasure!
