The latest group to score its own satellite radio station is Led Zeppelin. The rock legends, who are scheduled to reunite for a tribute gig next month, are the focus of the new station XM LED: The Led Zeppelin Channel. The XM station launched Thursday with the U.S. Premiere of The Song Remains the Same reissue, which features six previously unreleased songs from Led Zeppelin's 1973 Madison Square Garden shows. The station’s library includes the band's complete audio catalog, interviews with band members and other unique content. Several other musicians have recently earned dedicated satellite radio stations, including Bruce Springsteen, the Grateful Dead and Jimmy Buffet.

"With this channel, XM has curated the comprehensive Led Zeppelin experience," said Eric Logan, executive vice president of programming, XM, in a statement. "Often cited as a primary influence for a who's who of modern day musicians, Led Zeppelin is one of the most important rock acts from the last half-century and 'XM LED' will provide fans with the sounds and insights that have made them such enduring rock icons."

The launch of XM LED is the first of several highly-anticipated releases from the Led Zeppelin camp. In addition to the re-release of The Song Remains the Same soundtrack and DVD, the band is also issuing Mothership, a 24-track re-mastered career retrospective and is making its entire musical catalog available digitally.

XM LED will be available through May 8, 2008.  XM's Lou Brutus will serve as program director for the channel.  Programming information for the channel is available online at http://www.xmradio.com/ledzeppelin .
