As promised, the Beastie Boys have confirmed a handful of
mostly instrumental shows in support of their new album The Mix-Up. The trio recently announced a series of series of
traditional Beastie Boys shows at relatively small rooms in August. The gro up’s
instrumental shows will take place between the group’s previously confirmed
live dates. The group’s Mix-Up shows
will take place August 10 at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom, August 17 at Denver’s Fillmore,
August 20 at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater and August 24 at San Francisco’s The Warfield.
While billed as instrumental gigs, these performances will
include some vocal songs.“These shows are for people that are into our weird stuff,”
the group explains. “Some songs will
have vocals, others will be instrumental. Already here in Europe,
people have called us liars for playing songs with vocals during our so called ‘instrumental’
shows, so be it. We lie and are proud of it. Anyways, if you'd like to come to
one of these shows, then dress to impress, wear a suit, a tie, a dress, your Grandma’s
broach or whatever you feel good in... BUT PLEASE leave your cargo shorts, Birkenstocks
and t-shirts at home, this is not that kind of party.”
