Two of modern rock’s biggest
buzz bands, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem, will spend time on the road
together this fall. Arcade Fire will headline the extended outing, which is
scheduled to kick off September 17 at Morrison,
CO’s Red Rocks
Amphitheater. Both Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem solidified their buzz-band status in 2007 thanks to well-received new
releases, Neon Bible and Sound of Silver, respectively. As of
press time, the groups’ only other confirmed joint date is an appearance at Los Angeles’ Hollywood
Bowl on September 20, though the tour is scheduled to last through early
October. By sharing the stage, the indie-rock
upstarts will be able to make the jump from clubs and theaters to outdoor
amphitheaters and, perhaps, small indoor arenas. Several bands who grew out of
the modern indie-rock movement, including the White Stripes and Muse, have
recently graduated to arenas.
Before its fall tour, Arcade Fire will tour Europe
throughout the summer months and appear at the Austin City Limits festival from
September 14-16. LCD Soundsystem will also spend time in Europe
before returning to the states for an appearance at Lollapalooza on August 3.
