The latest DVD release from the Phish archives documents
the quartet’s fabled performance at Raleigh, NC’s Walnut Creek
Amphitheatre on July 22, 1997. As the Phish Archives remembers, “Phish
performed the second show of their U.S. summer tour through a torrent
of rain, thunder and lightning. Rather than cancel the gig, the band
played on with the music mirroring the peaks in the storm's intensity.
Highlights include ‘Down With Disease’ that slowly segues into ‘Mike's
Song’- the first and only time these two classic tunes were ever paired
together in such a way-as well as ‘Taste,’ complete with near Biblical
thunder and lightning display.” The show will be released as a two-disc
DVD, featuring a number of Phish classics, as well as rare songs like
Jon Fishman’s “Bye Bye Foot.” Anyone who pre-orders the DVD from Dry
Goods will receive Phish: Left Nuts,a bonus CD featuring more than 75 minutes of previously unreleased music from Phish's past Walnut Creek performances.
The DVD release will hit stores the same day as Mike Gordon’s new album, The Green Sparrow.
Every customer who pre-orders the CD from Mike's Online Store or Phish
Dry Goods will receive an autographed copy of the album and will be
entered to win a chance to hang out with Gordon himself. One Grand Prize Winner
will also receive a pair of tickets to any of Gordon’s upcoming shows
and what is being billed as a “Rendez-Mike™,” which may include a bass
lesson, chess game, vegetarian feast and or other Cactus-approved
activity.
