Back in 1987, Michael Dorf founded the Knitting Factory in downtown New York on Houston Street (in 1994 it relocted to its current home on Leonard Street). Ten years later a Los Angeles affiliate became the second venue to taking on the Knit name. In the near future, however, two new Knitting Factory clubs will open. In the fall of 2007, Knitting Factory Entertainment acquired The Big Easy Concert House venues which exist in Boise, ID and Spokane, WA. For some time, it was unclear if Knitting Factory Entertainment would indeed rebrand the new facilities but KFE has now confirmed that both the Boise and Spokane facilities will become Knitting Factory Concert Houses, with the official changes to follow over the coming weeks.
