While he undergoes a court-ordered drug rehab program, Trey Anastasio will release his latest all instrumental album on July 24. The disc, titled The Horseshoe Curve, will be released on Anastasio’s Rubber Jungle Records, both as a CD and as a limited Vinyl pressing. The disc was mostly recorded with producer Bryce Goggin at The Barn and features members of Anastasio’s original solo band: saxophonists Dave Grippo, Peter Apfelbaum and Russell Remington, trumpeter Jen Hartswick, trombonist Andy Moroz, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, drummer Russ Lawton, percussionist Cyro Baptista and bassist Tony Markellis. The former Phish guitarist also recorded portions of the disc at Goggin’s Trout Recording in Brooklyn, NY.

The Horseshoe Curve features both songs from Anastasio’s live catalogue and a handful of new originals. The complete track listing includes “Sidewalks of San Francisco,” “Olivia,” “Burlap Sack And Pumps,” “The Fifth Round,” “The Horseshoe Curve,” “Noodle Rave,” “Tube Top Tony” and “Porters Pyramids.” Two tracks featured on the album, "The Fifth Round" and "The Horseshoe Curve," were culled from jams recorded at Trey Anastasio Band live shows. The latter cut was recorded at a 2002 show which took place at Pittsburgh’s Amphitheatre at Station Square on June 11, 2002. "We were playing outside next to some train tracks that ran past the stage," Anastasio says on his webpage. "Right at the peak moment of the show a really long train rumbled by blowing its horn. You can hear it on the record. It sounded incredible, the band started playing to the rhythm of the train and hence, the name of the album."

"This new record feels very natural, it's part of the continuum," Anastasio continues. "The style of my writing seems to vary from album to album, a little more pop, a little more orchestral, a little jazzier. But if you listen closely to the vocal layers in [Phish songs] 'Twist' or 'Bouncing Around The Room' you'll hear that they're not very far removed from the horn lines in 'Sidewalks of San Francisco' or 'Burlap Sack and Pumps.'"

Anastasio will concurrently release a five-song live CD, The Lucius Beebe EP, which will be available free to fans who pre-order the album from his website. The EP features live versions of three songs from The Horseshoe Curve and two songs from Seis De Mayo, including appearances by Jon Fishman and John Medeski.
