The Whites Stripes have returned at full speed. The indie-blues-rock duo recently released their first new single, "Icky Thump," exclusively through iTunes. The group will release an album by the same name on June 19. Shortly after, the White Stripes will tour Canada, beginning with a June 24 appearance at Burnaby, BC’s Deer Lake Park.

"Having never done a full tour of Canada, Meg and I thought it was high time to go whole hog,? Jack White posted on his band’s homepage. “We want to take this tour to the far reaches of the Canadian landscapes. From the ocean to the permafrost. The best way for us to do that is ensure that we perform in every province and territory in the country, from the Yukon to Prince Edward Island. Another special moment of this tour is the show which will occur in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on July 14, The White Stripes' Tenth Anniversary.”

After returning to the United States, the White Stripes will open a short tour at Portland, ME’s Cumberland Co. Civic Center. The outing includes a high-profile June 24 headlining appearance at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The White Stripes will also play in front of an arena-size crowd at Bonnaroo on June 17. Further proof that he has no signs of slowing down, Jack White is also currently working on the second album by his other full-time band, The Raconteurs.
