The Roots have fleshed out some additional details concerning
their forthcoming studio album, Rising
Down. In addition to guest appearances from the group's self-described
"crew regulars," including Dice Raw, Truck North, P.O.R.N. and Malik
B, the live hip-hop group has recruited a cross-section of heavy hitters for
the project. As of press time, the album’s guests include Mos Def, Common,
Kweli, Peedi Peedi, Styles P, Wale, Patrick Stump, Mercedes Martinez and
Chrisette Michelle to appear on the guest-heavy project. In other collaboration
news, The Roots recently recorded a track for the project Soundtrack For A
Revolution with Brooklyn indie-heroes TV On The Radio. The paired performers
are expected to cover a Civil Rights-era freedom song. The Philadelphia-bred
hip-hop collective will appear at Columbia, MO's Jesse Auditorium this evening.
